In the dawn of formal charges being filed in military court against the 8 Marines commonly known as “The Haditha Marines”, we at The Marine Defense Fund have committed ourselves to see to it that these fine Marines have a formidable legal defense against a prosecution with almost unlimited resources. We will allow these Marines the very freedoms they defended with their lives in service to their country, among them, the presumption of innocence until proven guilty.
We at the Marine Defense Fund represent all walks of life, many with military service or family members who are either currently serving or have served this great nation of ours. When you donate, be confident that every penny you contribute will be used directly for the legal defense of these Marines, not even stamps will be covered from these donations. Those of us working with this fund are volunteering our time and resources so that every cent possible is directed toward the legal team defending our Marines.
It is important to note that this will now mark the third Christmas that these Marines will spend away from their families. We owe them our finest efforts and that is precisely what they shall receive. Therefore we ask you to do three (3) very significant things:

This site endorses the Marine/Iraq Legal Defense Fund, a California Charitable Corporation, created for the defense of U.S. Marines and Soldiers charged with war crimes while serving in Iraq and have requested our assitance, currently including the "Haditha 8 Marines" of 3/1 (3rd Battalion 1st Marines), and Marines known as "Camp Pendleton 8" of 3/5 (3rd Battalion 5th Marines) currently being held in the brig (jail) at Camp Pendleton, California. The fund has applied for charitable status to qualify donations as tax deductible. We have been notified that our application is now pending approval.
The fund was established by concerned citizens, most of whom have prior military service who have prospered in professional careers. None of the officers or board members of the fund accept any money for their services.
The purpose of the fund is to raise and distribute money as needed to best assure our Marines and Soldiers serving in Iraq that they may secure a proper defense of the crimes in which they are charged. It is contemplated the fund will help fill the need for money required to off-set costs and expert witness fees which the government will not provide.
